Statement of Dr Israr.

(Some companions along with Ali ibn Abi Talib (ra) were gathered together and had a few drinks and this was before the prohibition of alcohol. Then time for prayer came and Ali (ra) was asked to lead the prayers in which due to intoxication he made a mistake. Then the above mentioned verse of Surah Nisa was revealed. )

Mumbai Bomb Blasts Bandra Station

  • Jul. 12th, 2003 at 4:53 AM

The Bandra Railway Station , local train service of the Western Railway, and I reached here at about 11.30 pm, the bomb blast in the first class of a Borivili  bound local  took place at 6.28 pm., and this a peak hour period as the offices shut by this time.

And the second class is absolutely jampacked, no breathing space and the only breathing space is reservedfor the quintessential Indian armpits, I would say a pin in a pin box, and the trains are Mumbais life line, connecting the arterial flow of workers, labourers from one end to the other end.

Its 4 am in Mumbai, I have come back to my shop, a very long and torturous night, a night that shall remain a dark night even in the morning.

I left my shop after posting my article on the Mumbai Bomb blast  11/7 ,and as I was leaving the shop the local kids from the neighborhood came to ask for money to help the people that were being bought to the Bhabha hospital, I never carry much money, and I had a few bucks I gave them all and walked home.

At home I showered and saw the mayhem and chaos on the News Channel, and the photographer in me began to rebel, I had to shoot this, but wife would not let me go, I told her I would go up to Lucky Hotel  the SV Road junction close to the Bandra Railway station, as I knew people would be  helping folks with biscuits and drinking water, as the trains had stopped and this is about 11 pm, wife gave me Rs  45 , to clip my wings and that I don’t land up at some other place.

She reads me well.

I reached Bandra Station , and walked in and  saw people helplessly stranded, and from there I walked on the wet tracks till I reached the ill lucked train, and the first class compartment where the bomb had been placed, and this blast occurred at 6.28pm, from there I came out of the station shell shocked, managed to get a cab, paid Rs 15 till, St Michaels Church Mahim, as all the roads to Mahim Station were blocked to vehicular traffic, I walked quite a distance , and shot pictures of this  tragic scene, and from  Mahim , I walked all the way to Matunga my last stop, and here too I was not allowed to  enter the tracks, I shot pictures from outside , and here it was the same  destruction, and all first class compartments were targeted.,and you must be wondering about my dress code, I wore shots, sandals, t-shirt, and a photographers jacket ,and my Bandra Samachar Press Card , thank you Mr Clarence  Gomes. Eminent editor.

At Matunga for the first time I also shot some  pictures in Raw Format.

I came home from Matunga, and had just Rs 30 to pay the cabbie.

And it was 2 am, I showered again, and wife is furious, the moment she fell asleep I slipped out of the house to post the pictures as I have a premonition that Mumbai might come again to a crunching halt, and this time the issue is greater than the desecration of a Supremos  late wife’s statue, the desecration of humanity,  a dastardly and cowardly act, and the Mumbaikar has taken enough and wont be cowed down anymore,

I reached Bhabha Hospital, and shot the picture of our local MLA.. Minister of State, Mr. Baba Siddiqi and all the news channels are around, I managed to slip in and ,on the fourth floor of casualty I shot two pictures of the victims, and hurriedly came down before they confiscate my fucked Nikon D70 ,point and shoot Japanese Camera.

I have downloaded the pictures, and I am writing this on Microsoft Word, so the accursed page does not disappear, and I will not talk on the pictures I post.

You interpret it, as a human being, disbarring your nationality, all of you..

Good Morning.

7 blasts rock India trains; at least 100 dead
Explosions struck when commuter ‘trains were most crowded,’ official says
MUMBAI, India - More than 100 people were killed on Tuesday in seven bomb explosions at rail stations and on trains in India’s financial hub, Mumbai police said.

“There are 104 dead,” a police official at the city’s central control room, who gave his name as Bhavale, told Reuters by phone.

Bombay Police Chief A.N. Roy said on Indian television that as many 100 people were feared killed and more than 250 injured.

“The blasts happened when the trains were most crowded,” said D.K Shankaran, chief secretary of the state of Maharashtra, of which Mumbai is the capital said.

There was chaos throughout the crowded rail network following the explosions, and authorities struggled to determine how many people had been killed and injured.

Television images showed injured victims sprawled on train tracks, frantically dialing their cell phones. Some of the injured were being carried away from the crash site.

The force of the blasts ripped doors and windows off carriages, and luggage and debris were strewn about.

Pranay Prabhakar, the spokesman for the Western Railway, confirmed that seven blasts had taken place. He said all trains had been suspended, and he appealed to the public to stay away from the city's train stations.

I am at my shop, its 9.30pm this is my last post fr the day, I have sent my staff home, specially Anil who stays at Mulund and I have asked him to commute by public bus,his mother called up after he left, the other guys stay at Bandra, Asif my eldest son is at work at Malad he works for an American conglomerate, and his company bus will drop him at home, and in times like this the entire mobile network is jammed..and we cant get through to him, but there are parents like us , and children whose parents too must be out somewhere near a station, trying to get in touch, and the less said about disaster management the better.

And Mumbai has just been lashed by rains , flooding and misery to the Mumbaikar, and once the waters and the rains abated, came the desecration of the wife of the Shiv Sena supremo Shri Balasahebs late wife Shrimati Meenatai s Statue at Shivaji Park, and life in Mumbai was crippled by a a forcibly spontaneous bandh, havoc on the streets, and in far of Bhiwandi, a suburb, a riot between the minority community and the law enforcers, and uncalled for deaths of Police personnel, and two youth from the public.

And now these sudden explosions on the bleeding heart of a suffering city, and this mayhem, and death, and the cowardly terrorism that strikes its venemous head, and my heart goes out to those who lost their lives, and those in hospitals and , and those loved ones who will be waiting with abated breath for good news.

And this is Terrorism , heinously provocative, an extreme form of unpardonnable crime , a cowardice that has No Faith , No Religion, No God ,has no value for the innocent , the unwary, the hapless commuter who is already half dead in Mumbai s wretched transport system...the train travel is a horrendous nightmare, and only the undaunted and a braveheart can undergo this pilgrimage from home to the place of work uninsured to Fatality.

And tommorow morning this greivous calamity , will become fodder for political parties, and the issue will be politicized , to get rid of the government in power, and religious war cries, and no one to shed a tear for the dead. Visits by the politicos to the hospital to see the victims, monetary compensation for the dead and the injured, and more milage in media prominence for the minestrial force, and the opposition .

And yet battered , bruised each time crippled this great city of Mumbai and its toughened people get up after each disaster , God made or Man made, and shame all collective calamity.

Dont Cry Mumbai My Beloved City.
